The Betterment Network Mission

The mission of THE BETTERMENT NETWORK is to connect and support members on their journey to a better life.

The mission statement above reflects the goals of The Betterment Network. When I was first enlightened to the Law of Attraction in The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, I was so excited- I tried to share with family and friends. But no one I knew personally was interested in my profound discovery.

What I wanted was a network of friends that I could lean on and offer support to in attaining a life full of positive energy, gratitude and being connected to source. The Betterment Network was created so like minded people could get together to support one another in our journey.

This blog is the foundation of The Betterment Network but we also have a greater presence on Facebook and Twitter. We truly value comments, feedback, suggestions and ideas. Please join The Betterment Network and let us know how we can support you on a journey to an amazing life. You can also email me at bettermentnetwork@gmail.com

THISCLOSE to Success - The After Life Tally

I wonder when we die, if we have the opportunity to look back over our lifetime and see just how many times we were THISCLOSE to success, to having what we wanted, to gaining the life we desired; but had it all taken away because we did not see the results we wanted and a sense of hopelessness and negativity prevented us from getting what we desired. How many times did a feeling of disbelief prevent us from reaching a goal?

Never give up in your belief of what you want to achieve. It might be just beyond the next hurdle!

Jillian Michaels and Intuition

Intuition. Webster's Dictionary defines intuition as:

1 : the power of knowing immediately and without conscious reasoning
2 : something known or understood at once

I was recently reading an article in the July 2012 issue of Ladies' Home Journal about Jillian Michaels. She recently adopted an adorable little girl from Haiti. This is what she said of first meeting Lukensia.

"I met her a year ago on a trip visiting orphanages for All Blessings International, an organization I work with. I was visiting this one orphanage and the next thing I knew she jumped into my arms. She just grabbed me and clung to me and I immediately felt something. I was like, 'Oh my God, this is my daughter.' I asked people what was going on with her, and they're like, 'She's placed already, she's going to a family in Germany.' And I said, 'I don't think so, I don't think that's meant to be.' They thought I was insane. Then last October I got an e-mail from the woman who ran the orphanage that said: 'She's available, you can be her mom if you want.' Granted, it's not that easy -- you have to go through the process. But that's what happened, and I do think there's a certain amount of fate involved. Life has a way of working out the way it's meant to."

What struck me was Jillian's instantaneous connection with Lukensia and how she intuitively KNEW that child was her future daughter. It didn't matter that the toddler was already placed with another family. Jillian's impassioned belief that she was holding her daughter is the LOA at its best. When a person believes so strongly in something, when their emotions are so powerful, it has to come true. It is law.

Jillian chalked it up to fate and life working out the way it's meant to be. It is interesting that the definition of fate is as follows:

The development of events outside a person's control, regarded as determined by a supernatural power.

Determined by a supernatural power! Perhaps A.K.A. The Law of Attraction?!?! And the development of events IS in a person's control. You just have to believe that it can happen.

Back to Intuition. For me, I see intuition as a way for the universe to help those unfamiliar with the LOA bring to them those things they want but might not quite realize they want or know how to get it. It's a jolt of energy that says 'here I am - come and get it!' If you 'intuitively' know something- your faith is just that much stronger in its manifestation and because of this, you will attract the outcome you 'knew' was going to happen. When I think back over my past and how intuitive I use to consider myself, I have to chuckle. It wasn't so much I already KNEW things - but by thinking about things - how I attracted them to me. I love the irony of it all!

THINK POSITIVE ~ It's Not Always Easy

Yesterday I spent hours sitting by myself doing a tedious job that required using my hands only. My mind wondered all over the place, but it kept coming back to two recent events that really bug me.

The first stems from a family cookout the other day inwhich someone made a shocking accusations about a very beloved family member. This incident happened over 25 years ago - but apparently this member of our extended family has been harboring anger (reflected by the fist slamming into her hand motion - not once but twice!) all these years about something the rest of the family didn't even know was an issue - until this outburst.  I could go on forever relaying the story but suffice it to say - this is not a well liked family member to begin with and this outburst the other day only cemented the entire families viewpoint about this woman.

The second topic I was dwelling on yesterday involves someone I know who recently won her disability claim and is now being awarded $30,000.00 in back payments plus $5,000.00 for each of her two kids. This woman, who has barely worked in her young lifetime is being paid 40K in a lump payment for past due welfare and then will receive $1,600.00 a month in disability. I'm enraged because I know this person and am not happy about her victory. While some people truly deserve welfare, her career in life seems to be getting disability for everyone in her family. That would be her 3rd victory out of her 4 family members!

Anyhow, I was dwelling on these two subjects for much of my day yesterday when it occurred to me that I was thinking only bad thoughts. Once I realized what I was doing, I made a conscious effort to change my thoughts to happy ones, but sometimes it can be so hard!

I have my 'Happy Song' that I use often to help lift my spirits but somedays that doesn't even work. I would love to hear from my readers on what helps you keep positive thoughts flowing in your mind! Please share!

Socks and The Law of Attraction

My feet were cold. It's a rainy cool day in the Northeast. I was feeling too lazy to walk upstairs to grab a pair of socks out of my dresser. Knowing I had socks in the laundry room, I ventured in there instead. As it turned out - I had only one sock that was on top of the dryer - I had taken all the other clothes upstairs last night on my way to dreamland. Before heading to bed, I had started another load of clothes in the dryer, and I knew that sock mate was amongst the tumble of clothing still inside the dryer. One small sock among all the jeans, towels, shirts etc - I knew this was going to require some searching!

So - before opening the door to the dryer, I thought a positive thought - this will be easy - it will be right in front when I open the door - I used a few other brief Law of Attraction type thoughts -trying to will that mate to be very obvious when I opened the door. And then I opened the dryer door.

It was not right there in front of me. I sighed - chalking it up to not having believed enough that it would be so obvious. I reached into the dryer and pulled out the first article of clothing- I figured I may as well fold laundry while digging for my sock. As I pulled out the pair of jeans, I kid you not, out came the sock and fell promptly at my feet! It was a miracle!!! The Law of Attraction works!!! I had my pair of socks and my feet were nice and warm!! And the remaining clothes in the dryer? They are still waiting to be folded.

The Magic Works

Recently my husband and I bought a new home in a new town. Having lived most of my life on the same road, I am very use to people driving past and waving or neighbors walking by and having a conversation. We bought the new house back in March but because our young girls are in school, we are holding off on moving til the school year ends.

However, we are over at the new house quite often and out in the front yard cutting trees, brush and the lawn. Being on a dead end road with approximently 20 houses beyond us, the traffic isn't as heavy as my previous home but the vehicles are becoming very familiar. I wish I could say the same for the drivers. I've commented numerous times to my husband that people over there are not very friendly. Even the mailman doesn't wave! As for the people directly across the street, a wave occassionally but hardly what I would term friendly. (OK, so maybe it is because on a first visit our big dog took off across the road when Mr. Neighbor was getting his mail, but we have her trained now!)

I'm not sure why it matters to me, but it does. I want a 'friendly' relationship with my neighbors! And apparently this has been gnawing at me. Recently I have been reading The Magic by Rhonda Byrne - author of The Secret and The Power etc. It's a book of daily assignments to help transform my life and attract good things into my life. Day 21 was the Magnificent Outcomes day where I had to choose 3 situations that were important to me that I could use gratitude to attract into my life. As one of my 3 choices, I decided one item should be totally random so I could see if it worked. I decided that since it was a day we would be spending at the new house, I would choose to show gratitude for the neighbors that would stop by for a chat. I had to write: Thank you for the magnificent outcome to a neighbor stopping by for a chat. Throughout the day I  showed gratitude for the neighbor stopping by, I used my thoughts and feelings to try attracting this situation into my day.

All morning we were in the front yard- I was weeding a garden by the road. No one stopped by. A car did stop to ask directions but I didn't consider that as being a Magnificent Outcome. In the afternoon, we picked up the girls from school and returned to the new place where we had dinner. It was getting late and I had kind of given up on the friendly neighbor visit.

I was sitting in the house with our two dogs as my husband was out mowing around our field and the girls were out front playing when a Mother and her daughter - NEIGHBORS - went past on horseback. They stopped and talked to my girls!!!  Because my dogs were going crazy, I didn't venture outside but I didn't care - I was just so excited that a neighbor stopped to chat! (even if it turned out not to be with me)(Later I found out they also chatted with my husband, who apparently got the lawn mower stuck and the women said they would help him get it unstuck but the horses were too spirited - so apparently everyone in my family  talked to these neighbors EXCEPT ME!) I was in awe - I had shown gratitude all day for a Magnificent Outcome to a neighbor stopping by to chat, and it happened!

As for the other two situations I tried to attract that day - one did happen but the other was too vague to know for sure.

So, moral of the story, The Law of Attraction works. Not all new neighbors are unfriendly! And next time I try to attract a Magnificent Outcome, I will be more specific that I want to outcome to happen to ME!

Refresher Course To Being AMAZING!

I love The Secret. I also love The Power - both books by Rhonda Byrne. I used The Secret to end decades of bad relationships and bring into my life the most wonderful man possible. I still offer gratitude daily for him coming into my life because he's employed, not an alcoholic, and not afraid of commitment. And he loves me more than I can imagine!

After we married a couple years ago we sat down and wrote out all our debt, not a pretty picture! It was a very hard time financially for us, especially since I was being laid off from my job. But I knew a secret, The Secret! My husband and I laughingly referred to ourselves as Money Magnets and it worked - I can not tell you how many times money came to us in totally unexpected ways! There was the audit from my old job that showed I had been under compensated in my benefits that resulted in a surprise check, there were anticipated annual debts that came in at lower costs, items we sold that went for more than we expected etc etc. It really became a joke for us because it happened so frequently. I can't say we are completely debt free at this time but I can say we have paid off over one hundred thousand dollars in debt and are half way to our goal! Financially, we are much better off than we were when we married!

So my love life is great, finances are improving constantly, but I confess that recently I admitted to myself that I am not as happy as I should be - or want to be. Several areas of my life seem to be off and it was really depressing me.

So I pulled out The Power this weekend and began reading it once again. Right there ~ the very first line of the Introduction ~ YOU ARE MEANT TO HAVE AN AMAZING LIFE! Wow! I AM meant to have an amazing life so why don't I feel like I have an amazing life? No matter how much I believe in The Secret and The Power - I realized I have not been feeling amazing in so many areas of my life. Perhaps I was too focused on money - but money does not buy happiness. My life is not amazing. That was my revelation. But I want my life to be amazing! So I read on................

Page 5 held the key to my enlightenment!

Life is simple. Your life is made up of only two kinds of things- positive things and negative things. Each area of your life, whether it's your health, money, relationships, work, or happiness, is either positive or negative to you.

WOW! I read that line several times because it hit home. I started with health and went thru each area she listed and shockingly realized most were negative! OUCH! I have some serious work to do in changing how I feel. This really surprised me because I thought I was a good practitioner of The Secret but it seems I was way off course. For this reason alone, I am grateful I started to read The Power again!

Sometimes we get caught up in living our lives and lose sight of what is important to ourselves. No matter how much we believe in something-sometimes we need to re-examine our beliefs - take a refresher, if you will.  Whether we seek to learn new things about ourselves or seek ways to improve what we already know, the greatest gift we can give to ourselves is the time to take care of ourselves and do what we need to ~ to have an AMAZING LIFE.

Go forth and be AMAZING!

Helping Friends Towards The Law Of Attraction

I admit to being somewhat of a Facebook junkie. I check it daily - sometimes numerous times throughout the day. I love connecting with my family, current network of friends and associates and also my old classmates and childhood friends. Some of the wall postings are funny if not hysterical, some are random and some are very, hmm, pitiful, for lack of a better word. It amazes me what people will post on a very public forum.

If you are on FB, you probably know what I am talking about, but these people also exist in our daily, non-internet connected worlds. Mr. or Mrs. Doom and Gloom. For example, there is the star athlete classmate who also happened to be, I believe, in the top ten for academics when we graduated. This 40 something year old man is CONSTANTLY posting updates about his on again, off again relationship, his crappy job at WALMART working terrible hours and for low wages, his barely above poverty living conditions, car troubles, begging friends for sidework to earn extra cash  and complaining about having to pay child support. (Mind you, his children happen to be his friends on FB thus having access to his complaints about having to support them!)

I'm dumbfounded. In talking with others on Facebook, they too have FB friends who are constantly posting daily negative updates - nothing but tragedy in their lives. I get it - the more negativity you project, the more you'll attract. We know how this works!

So here is my dilemma. How do we help people like my friend above? I felt badly for this man, someone who was a great friend back in the day and dated briefly years after graduation. I confess I sent him a personal message and suggested he borrow The Secret by Rhonda Byrnes and briefly stated that perhaps all that negative energy he is putting out there might be attracting more negative crap into his life. I tried to make my message lightweight and casual because I knew it would probably sound crazy to a non- believer in the Law of Attraction - but informative and hopefully helpful at the same time. Sure enough, he replied with a pleasant thank you for the message but did not mention that he would take my advice. (rightfully so I suppose in hindsight!)

I know some people just thrive in their 'poor me' existence. These people will never change, nor do they want to. But how do we help those that do want to change? My first experience in trying to help a friend failed. Perhaps if I had instead offered to buy him a cup of coffee then personally handed him a copy of The Secret (the book that changed my life), I would have been more successful in helping my friend.

Years ago, while going thru divorce, I went to a divorce support group. A kind stranger, who went on to become a dear friend, handed me a copy of a book on divorce that she swore by, to help me thru my emotional rollercoaster that comes with getting divorced. I read it, and reread it numerous more times. It became my Bible and I later 'Paid It Forward' by referring it to other people going thru divorce - stockpiling copies so I could hand them out as well. Whether or not anyone else found as much inspiration in that book as I did, I will never know, but I do know how much those people appreciated my generosity at the time -not just for the book, but for understanding and being supportive, just like I had felt many years ago when a kind stranger handed a book to me. The light bulb just clicked on for me.

People don't like being told what we SHOULD do, but we do like feeling understood, supported and appreciated. The next time I feel someone I know is very off track and might benefit from learning about the LOA, I know what I will do. I will hand them a copy of The Secret, acknowledge that they seem to be having a hard time right now and simply say that this book changed my life and I hope it can be of some help to them. Then leave it at that unless they want to learn more.

I was trying to help my above mentioned friend, but it turns out, he taught me something instead - and reminded me of a time long ago when I more clearly understood how best to help my friends. I may not have helped him, but I might be able to help others. Maybe I didn't fail after all!

How do you make the Law of Attraction work for you?

How do you make the Law of Attraction work for you? Do you have any helpful tips for newbies to the Law of Attraction? Please share!

You Time ~ Required Reading.

Do you  take time for yourself? Do you enjoy getting massages but never have the time? Do you enjoy walks in the park but put a million other tasks ahead of something you find pleasurable? Are you constantly saying to your friends that you should do lunch sometime but never follow up on getting together with your friends? Do you fall into bed each night exhausted from work, family and household responsibilities but having done nothing for yourself all day because you are too busy?

Who can't say yes to all of the above? This is what we are led to believe is how we should be living our lives. We are expected to put ourselves last. If you are always believing that you are too busy to enjoy the things you love to do, then guess what? The Universe will give you what you expect. You will always be too busy to do the things you love!

The September 2010 issue of Whole Living has an article on 6 ways to boost healing. The opening line states that if you don't take time for yourself, you will most likely be sick because relaxation and pleasure are healing states of mind. I don't have to tell anyone this - we all know that stress can compromise our health. But when you are constantly saying to yourself that you don't have time to relax and enjoy the things you find pleasurable, guess what? The Law of Attraction will make it so!

Start telling yourself you do have time to enjoy pleasurable things. Take a 15 minute walk, curl up with the book that has been sitting on your nightstand for a year, even if it is for only 10 minutes. Start squeezing out small amounts of time daily for yourself. It is possible. And the more you make it happen and come to expect that time for yourself, the more the universe will grant you and the easier it will be to attract more time for yourself.

The Law of Attraction gives you what you expect. Make sure you expect time for yourself. And be well!

Ashley Smith and Her Powerful Belief

OK, I openly admit that I'm a little behind on my current affairs reading but it comes as no surprise to those that know me that I've just finished reading the People Magazine from March 28th, 2005. Yes, 2005! I shouldn't admit that to the world but the cover story about Ashley Smith - the woman held hostage by a murderer, Brian Nichols, who talked her way into having him let her go, is a remarkable story and I have to comment on it.

What struck me was her total belief that she would one day see her daughter again (who was staying with her parents at the time of the invasion). She is quoted as say, "I really felt deep down inside that he was going to let me see my little girl." Her belief that she would see her daughter again was the energy she sent out into the universe. And The Law of Attraction gave her exactly what she believed to be true. She was reunited with her daughter - safely.

I don't know if Ms. Smith follows The Law of Attraction - therefore she may not know that the vibrations we send out into the universe effect our life. Knowingly or unknowingly, Ms. Smith drew to her a very favorable outcome.

Her situation has made me wonder how I would react in such a situation. I hope no one reading this will ever be in her situation, but if you are, I hope you will somehow find the strength to use The Law of Attraction to have a safe resolution to the dangerous situation you find yourself in.

The Law of Attraction in powerful. And it is always paying attention to your thoughts and feelings.

How to Visualize

A few years ago I watched The Secret movie and then read the book. It seemed so simple yet hard to believe it could actually work. It was also a time in my life when after over 12 years of being single, I was giving up on finding a great guy. I decided I was repeating the same patterns in my quest for Mr. Right and I needed to do something different. DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT became my mantra.

In the spring of 2008, as I scrolled thru an online dating service site yet again, I decided to DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT - as in give men who usually wouldn't interest me, a chance to get to know me. I am a person who has always known I DO NOT want children - so single fathers with full custody would normally be someone I would skip right over - but I decided to DSD! I wrote to one widower who was in the process of adopting his two very young granddaughters. As it happened, of course, we seemed to connect. It was about that same time I heard about The Secret.

I determined I really liked this guy - and weighed the options of a letting him go vs. accepting that fate had sent a great guy to me with two little girls! Oh, and did I mention he found someone else online and started dating her just as we were getting to know one another? The Secret gave me the determination to make this man mine - despite the roadblocks I faced.

So, I pictured this man as my husband, I visualized our wedding, my being a mother and I even wrote our names as Mr and Mrs. (not to him of course). I pictured my house with the 4 of us living in it and, basically, I really 'felt' like this was my future husband I was writing/chatting with. (I had never actually met this man in person but my instincts just told me he was a keeper)

Sure enough, within a couple weeks, he confided things didn't work out with the woman he was seeing and within 2 months of 'meeting' online, we were a couple and by the end of the year - we all lived together in my house and were planning our wedding for the following summer!

That was my first experience with The Secret. I became a believer after that.

My second experience began over a year ago - October 2009. Money had been really tight up til that point as I had reduced my hours in January of that year to accommodate day care. But after working basically just to pay day care expenses, in Sept I resigned completely from my position. Now we were one income with two mortgages (in this recession - his house was not selling!) and a boatload of debt. My husband and I sat down and listed all of our debt! It seemed insurmountable at the time. Monthly expenses were much greater than monthly income but I made up my mind that by the end of 2010 we would have paid off a third of all debt. Seemed pretty impossible at the time. I had NO IDEA how it was going to happen. But I visualized the pie chart I had created filling in with paid off debt. I 'knew' we would somehow do it. I never wavered in my faith that by the end of 2010 we would have one third paid off.

As of last update, as we are days away from the end of 2010, not only have we paid off a full third of the total debt, but we have paid off 41.46% of all our debt! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I recently wrote about my third encounter with The Secret in my blog titled, The Power of The Secret. Please read for more proof that The Secret really works!

I try to offer gratitude constantly throughout the day. I also try to block out time to focus on things I want. I meditate daily in front of my vision board. I try to really feel the feelings associated with what I desire, I envision specific things that pertain to the items  I want (like writing Mr. and Mrs Right when I wanted to make Mr. Right my husband or money constantly coming to me so that I could pay down my debt). I visualized myself achieving my goals. I sang silly songs in my head and out loud (in my car) to continuously be positive about what I want (see Happy Song blog). Imagine what you want is really happening to you - how does it make you feel? What would you see, smell, feel or taste if what you wanted were to really come true. Imagine those same senses while visualizing!

I don't know how this works - The Law of Attraction seems so unreal - but I know that it does work! I've tested it a number of times and I've never been let down.

Please share your success with The Secret. I'd love to hear from others about how The Secret has worked for them!

Thymus Thump = Happiness

As a follower of The Law of Attraction, I know how important it is to maintain a happy outlook but sometimes that is not quite as easy as it sounds. I am always open to any suggestions of Feel-Good-Quick exercises I stumble across in magazines that I can try for an instant mood boost. In a Woman's World magazine, they did an article that included how to brighten your outlook fast by doing the Thymus Thump. Sounds silly, looks even sillier - but it worked - probably because it made me laugh at how ridiculous it is!

To do the Thymus Thump - using the flat side of your fist - tap your breast bone while repeating "Ha Ha Ha" over and over. According to Peter Lambrou, Ph.D. - and coauthor of Instant Emotional Healing - this simple chest tapping can rev up your immune system and your energy. And the Ha Ha Has inspire laughter (I can confirm this!)

So for a quick pick me up when your mood is heading downward, to the Thymus Thump! Thump and Ha Ha Ha yourself to happiness!

The Power of The Secret

This is incredible and I have to share this true story with my followers. This shows the power of The Secret.

Monday night I was filling out my Christmas cards to mail to my friends and family. It's something I love to do and doesn't matter if I get cards back or not. As I was flipping my way through my address book, I came to the name and address of my Aunt and Uncle. My Aunt, my Mother's sister, passed away 4 days after Christmas in 2007 from pancreatic cancer, in her big old farmhouse, with all of us surrounding her with love and care.

My uncle has since become kind of a recluse. He gave my Mom the genealogy my Aunt had worked on but not much else - even though my Aunt had a lot of family heirlooms that she would want to stay in the family. (They had no children).  While we always invite him to holiday family dinners - he never comes - sometimes going to his sister's in VT instead. None of us have been in the farmhouse since my Aunt died.

It's not just that the farm was my Aunts place. It has more history dating even further back then when my Aunt and Uncle bought it around 1980. Many years ago, an elderly couple owned the farm and my uncle - a different uncle- worked for them as a hired hand. After they no longer had a need to employ my uncle, he still looked after them and helped them. My Mom use to take food up to them once in a while. I remember walking into the house after Mr. E had passed away and Mrs. E was living in just the kitchen and dining room - everything else was blocked off to save heat. As a young kid, that made an impression that has always stuck with me.  When they died, having no children, they left the farm to my Uncle. He sold the estate to a local business man who held the property for several years, unoccupied, until my Aunt and Uncle moved to town and bought the farm back.

Fast forward to present - my husband and I have been considering moving - we need a much bigger house for our growing family. Before bed each night, I read a little from the diaries that my Grandmother use to keep. I happen to be up to 1980 and reading about the recent farm purchase and all the work my grandfather, uncle and other relatives put into helping my Aunt and Uncle make the old farmhouse inhabitable. The diary entries showed me just how much work went into that farmhouse and how many of my loved ones had a hand in fixing the old place up. I realized I hated to see that place sold out of the family.

So, there I am, Monday night, making out Christmas cards and I come to my Uncle. As I wrote out his address on the envelope, I took a moment to think about that address and how I want that address to be my address! I know how The Secret works but never really thought about the farmhouse in that light before. So I envisioned a letter coming to me with that address on the envelope and for the first time really thought about how I want that house, what living in it would be like and how it would feel. I pictured how my stuff would be in it and so forth. I spent several moments thinking about the farmhouse and did again before falling off to sleep that night.

The next morning, a little after 9AM, my Mom calls and she said 'you'll never guess who called me?' MY UNCLE. A man none of us have heard from in nearly 3 years called my Mom up out of the blue to say he wanted my Mom, my sister and I to come up and take what we want out of my Aunts china cabinets as that stuff means nothing to him and he wants us to have it. (I still get goosebumps thinking about this!)

Needless to say, we rushed up and took dishes that belonged to Great Aunts and more, (my Aunt put notes on lots of old stuff to indicate who they had belonged to - this is something that my family does). There was even a dish with a note on the back in my Grandmothers handwriting that said to give to my aunt and then to me. It was very exciting. My uncle also gave my Mom a handmade grandfather clock that an old family friend had made, but more importantly, I had an opportunity to tell my uncle- in person - that should he ever want to sell the farmhouse, I would love to have the first opportunity to buy it. I told him why I wanted it, explaining about the diaries and family history.

While he isn't planning to sell any time soon,  he told me what he wants for it - and it is a steal. The best part is he said if I buy the house - he will just leave everything in the house! All my Aunts stuff will come with the house! That is PRICELESS!

The seed has been planted, my uncle now knows I'm serious about wanting to buy the house and I don't know how it is going to happen or when - but more than ever, I now know that it WILL happen. His calling out of the blue was no coincidence - it was a clear sign from above that this will happen. I'm so confident I almost ordered address labels with my new address on it, but then decided I better save the money for my down payment!

It just goes to show how a little bit of belief in The Law of Attraction can work. Just believe in what you want - make it your own and unimaginable things will suddenly happen to make your dreams come true! The universe is so powerful. I am still in awe of the events of this past week!

Vision Boards, Meditation and How To Be A Money Magnet

Vision boards - if you've read THE SECRET or other Law of Attraction themed books, you know that they all suggest VISION BOARDS. I love the story in The Secret about the man who pulled an old vision board out of storage only to realize a home he had put on that vision board years ago was the exact house he happened to be living in at that time! Powerful stuff!!

I recently created my vision board and I suspect many people have a similar theme of desires on their own boards. Most want happiness, a relationship, health and wealth! I have clippings for being a good Mom on my board along with the Cherry Red Jeep Wrangler I've wanted since I can remember. And of course - lots of pictures of Africa - a childhood dream destination.

I have my board in my livingroom where I see and look at it daily. On the rare occasion when no one is home but me, I prop it up in front of the TV and assume my meditation pose in front  of the board. I close my eyes and concentrate deeply on everything on my board - envisioning that I already have it and giving thanks for it.

It is, unfortunately, difficult for me to find quiet time daily to meditate on my vision board. I try to steal moments when I can to focus on my thoughts - before getting out of bed in the morning, in the shower, driving to the store, etc etc. but it isn't the same as when I can take my time and really feel my thoughts for each item on my vision board.

Bob Proctor recently sent me a message on Twitter that says write what you want on a card and carry that card with you. Repeat what is on that card numerous times a day. I admit I don't carry a card with me but my favorite mantra is, "I am a Money Magnet" - and sometimes I follow that up with, "Money comes to me frequently and in large sums all the time". Might sound silly but not to those who believe that the Law of Attraction works.

Last October, my husband and I sat down and reviewed our finances. Not pretty! I had just left my job so we were down to just his salary. We owned two houses with mortgages we really couldn't afford and owed money, it seemed, to everyone! We wrote down every single expense we had and I vowed that within THREE YEARS - we would pay everything off. One income vs. HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of Dollars of DEBT = Who am I kidding?!?!?!

But I was determined that somehow before the end of this year - we would have a third of our debt paid off. I actually gave myself 14 months to do it since we started this the end of Oct 2009 and I thought the extra two months in 2010 would be needed to help reach this goal - although, I admit, in Oct 2009 - I thought there was no way we could pay off that much debt in 14 months on one income!

I had used The Secret to land my fabulous husband, so I know this works. So, starting in October 2009 - I put all my energy into attracting wealth and watching the debt slip away. I can not tell you how it happened, other than I believed it would, but by the end of October 2010 - not only had I reached my goal of paying off a third of our total debt - but I had actually paid off over FORTY PERCENT of all our debt! By the end of this year, when I had hoped to have paid off a third of our total debt, I will have paid off almost HALF of the total debt! Just by repeating as often as I can, "I am a Money Magnet - money comes to me frequently and in large sums all the time"and 'Thank you for all the money that comes to me". And when I can, I prop up my vision board and meditate quietly, for as long as I can.

The Law of Attraction works, but only if you believe and send out your thoughts in the manner that you want them. When my husband would 'win' a grocery store gift card at work- I would say "we are Money Magnets", when I found a penny on the floor - I would say "I am a Money Magnet", and when my old employer sent me a check out of the blue from a pay error found during a recent audit, I say................"I'm a Money Magnet. Thank you for all this money that comes to me!" This has become a habit for me. I now expect money and know it will come. And it does. It took work and constant repeating - replacing doubt with a can do spirit- and believing it will happen. It happened for me. And I now believe by the end of 2011 I'll be completely debt free! Nothing is impossible........after all, I'm a Money Magnet!
