The Betterment Network Mission

The mission of THE BETTERMENT NETWORK is to connect and support members on their journey to a better life.

The mission statement above reflects the goals of The Betterment Network. When I was first enlightened to the Law of Attraction in The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, I was so excited- I tried to share with family and friends. But no one I knew personally was interested in my profound discovery.

What I wanted was a network of friends that I could lean on and offer support to in attaining a life full of positive energy, gratitude and being connected to source. The Betterment Network was created so like minded people could get together to support one another in our journey.

This blog is the foundation of The Betterment Network but we also have a greater presence on Facebook and Twitter. We truly value comments, feedback, suggestions and ideas. Please join The Betterment Network and let us know how we can support you on a journey to an amazing life. You can also email me at bettermentnetwork@gmail.com

Betterment Network Needs Help

Hello Betterment Network readers,

I need your help. I created the Betterment Network because I found myself looking for support from others who follow The Law of Attraction, but was unsuccessful in finding fellow novice practitioners. I know TLOA works, I have seen enough proof with my own eyes to believe! But it isn't always easy to practice and stay focused. Life happens, reality stares you in the face and well, we are all busy living our lives - and our positive energy can get railroaded into unpleasant thoughts. i.e. another bill arrives in the mail, you look in the mirror and see a fat body, you are unfulfilled in your career, etc etc. We all know how this applies to ourselves.

Personally, I have used TLOA to attract a fabulous man into my life (now my fabulous husband) and to attract enough money last year to pay off an incredible amount of debt - debt I couldn't imagine paying off so quickly. (I'm still amazed) But those were only 2 areas of my life and there is so much more I want to change.

I have my vision board and I meditate as often as I can. I offer gratitude before I get out of bed in the morning, while I'm in the shower, before going to sleep at night and as often as possible in between. But my other areas of life stay the same and I know it is because I don't put the same focused energy into these areas of my life that I put into my financial situation and finding my soulmate.

So with this realization, I thought how wonderful it would be to find other people in similar situations - as a network of support to help one another stay focused and accountable towards our goals. If you try to change your life after substance abuse, you have a sponsor that you can call on for support and inspiration. After years of attracting the wrong things, learning to change your energy to positive energy seems, to me,  similar to that of a recovering addict. Personally, I would like the same type of one on one support that addicts get. I thought if I felt this way, surely there must be others out there like me.

What I found was a lot of organizations that might send out an email daily or weekly with inspirational quotes, Facebook pages where people can post supportive tips,  blogs where people can comment, and discussion groups on different topics, but I didn't find one on one support- which is what I really wanted for myself and felt others might be interested in also. (Could you imagine someone going thru alcohol abuse recovery with only a weekly email of encouragement!)

I know in this day and age of social media networking - everyone is a friend to everyone, but I wanted to find a way to personally connect with someone looking for the same things I'm looking for, thus I created The Betterment Network. My goal is to make this network like a bunch of personal cheerleaders - I don't have it all mapped out - but basically put like minded people together so they can directly support one another. Not sure how, but I know TLOA will make this work.

I know Rome was not built in a day, but I thought this idea would be well received. I can't say I am disappointed that I don't have more interest in this network, because I am VERY HAPPY to have 36 followers on twitter at this point. I'd never tweeted before I signed up with The Betterment Network. And if you happen to be a follower- you can probably tell I'm still a novice! I just learned how to shorten my links so I'm feeling very proud of myself!

Anyhow, I admit to being a lousy blogger and tweeter and FB poster etc etc. but I really believe that there is a need for a network to offer support to one another as we all practice TLOA. So I'm not giving up!

Here is where you can help. I would LOVE feedback and comments with suggestions, helpful hints and ideas for how to make the Betterment Network reach it's goal. Our mission statement is: The mission of THE BETTERMENT NETWORK is to connect and support members on their journey to a better life.

I believe in The Betterment Network and its mission. I KNOW this will work. I will be forever grateful for your comments.

Thank you!!

Happy Song

Remember that song from childhood, 'If you're happy and you know it clap your hands'? I have a confession.........I sing that song to myself all the time! (and I clap!!) For whatever reason, whenever I'm NOT feeling happy, if I sing this song and clap my hands, it always puts a smile on my face.

If you're happy and you know it clap your hands...........(clap clap)
If you're happy and you know it clap your hands...........(clap clap)
If you're happy and you know then your face will surely show it,
If you're happy and you know it clap your hands...........(clap clap)

But my singing doesn't end there. I use variations of this song ALL THE TIME in other ways, by simply replacing a few words.

For instance happy with healthy and face with body..

If you're healthy and you know it clap your hands...........(clap clap)
If you're healthy and you know it clap your hands...........(clap clap)
If you're healthy and you know then your body will surely show it,
If you're healthy and you know it clap your hands...........(clap clap).

I also swap out happy for wealthy and face for portfolio and numberous other combos. Secretly, I have a blast coming up with some none lyrical versions of this song. I'll never be mistaken for a songwriter!

In my personal quest to keep positive and focused on what I want, this works for me when my mind is wandering or I'm not feeling positive. Perhaps this will work for someone else.

If you would love to share what works for you, please do. I'd love to hear from readers on how they stay focused and positive.

Welcome to The Betterment Network

Welcome to my new blog entitled Betterment Network. What is The Betterment Network? While we are still VERY MUCH in our infancy, the idea behind TBN was to create a support group with sponsors sort of along the idea of Alcoholics Anonymous. There are no 12-steps, but only one, and it follows the teachings of the secret power held by many great people before us. The Secret by Rhonda Byrne is the most popular book on the subject at this time and is the basis for the creation for TBN. I highly recommend her work!

I followed The Secret when I met my future husband, even though he was dating someone else at the time and within 2 months- he was mine and we were inseparable! (this after about 15 years of being single and constantly dating the wrong man!)  Marriage, adoption, housing changes, job changes etc etc all happened within the months that followed and I barely had time to breathe let alone focus on The Secret teachings that were not yet natural for me. Months later, when The Power came out, I anxiously bought it and regained my footing and my focus. I even created a vision board! While I had my soul mate, I still didn't have all the other things most people want - to be a great parent, wealth, health, career success and much more that is personal to me.

While I struggled to maintain my positive focus, I realized how difficult it is when life is swirling around you and wondered if others struggled like I did. Like probably most people, I sign up for a lot of inspirational email subscriptions, but really, who has time to read them? I have lots of friends on Facebook, but I don't have lots of friends. And certainly not many who I can contact and say - help, I need to refocus! They wouldn't have a clue what I am talking about!

It came to me one day that I wish I had someone I could connect with other than via email or FB.  Just like when you call a service provider and can not reach an actual human being, I longed for someone to talk to instead of reading emails - most of which end up trying to sell you something! I am not sure how sponsors work for AA or other 12 step programs, but it seems to me, that when someone is struggling with an addiction and they are wavering in their sobriety, they contact their sponsor who supports and encourages them thru the bad time. (I hope I'm not over simplifying what a sponsor does) I decided I wanted a 'sponsor' who will help me with my addiction (negative or sabotaging thoughts) and help me get back on track - to become a Betterment Person.

The Betterment Network is in it's infancy. The goal is to connect people together so they can support/encourage one another when someone is having a tough time - much like a personal sponsor. But it is also our hope that we will be able to send out more than weekly encouragement to our members - via text, email, facebook and/or twitter. This is all still in the process of being worked out, so please bear with us. I've never texted or tweeted in my life! I have to chat with my 23 year old niece to learn how to do this!

We ARE NOT a professional mental health affiliate - and do not want to be thought of as one. We hope you will think of us more as a new found friend here to offer support when your old way of thinking creeps up on you.

Why the name Betterment? I wanted something that indicated 'to improve'. When looking at the definition, I also noticed that the word seems to pertain a lot to property. And what SHOULD we value most? What is our greatest asset?? Ourselves!!!!!!!!! We all want to be a 'better' person - so I am hoping that everyone who reads this will want to become a 'Betterment Person'!

Why Network? I hope this grows into a network of many who support and encourage one another!

So please become a follower of this blog. Leave feedback! And look for our Facebook Page where you can interact on our wall. We hope this will be a great journey together. Thanks for reading!!!!
